Lessons from the DearlyCare
UX Project

One major lesson was the importance of asking people how my ideas could ease their workload or stress. Their insights were invaluable. Unlike my past front-end work, which was often solitary, UX showed me I’m more of an extrovert than I thought!

I also realized UX goes far beyond visual design and metrics—it involves writing, business research, coding knowledge, stakeholder communication, content creation, and constant iteration. It can be overwhelming at times, but never boring.

My real-life caregiving experiences shaped my design, but feedback from usability participants, colleagues, tutors, and mentors played a huge role in refining it. I’ll always prioritize design reviews and live user testing to ensure my work is thoughtful and validated.

Lastly, I’m glad my love for graphic design still has a place in UX. Whether it’s kerning, letterspacing, or animated SVGs, those details still matter.

Special thanks to my CF tutor, Samara Paez, and especially my mentor, Maryam Daryabegi, for your enriching and inspiring guidance—you’ve helped elevate my portfolio to a whole new level.
